SOTS Post #6

Plant growth begins with sunlight. Using sunlight the plant will create sugers by photosynthesis. The sugars will then be used in cellular respiration to make ATP or adenosine triphosphate. ATP is then used in mitosis or cell division which then increase the plant's biomass.
To achieve photosynthesis the cells that conduct it need enzymes such as PEPC and Rubisco. To create theses enzymes (proteins) the DNA must be read and copied. Once that has happened an enzyme will then be made using anywhere from 100 to 1000 amino acids which will give the enzyme it’s unique shape. The enzyme will then be used as a catalyst to conduct photosynthesis.
